UTILITY BILL ANALYSIS

Electric Cost Analysis

For many businesses and organizations, electric billings represent a substantial utility operating cost that has a direct impact on the bottom line. Yet despite its impact, most organizations do not have the time or expertise to identify and solve problems affecting their electric utility billings. With electricity playing an ever-larger role in business due to computers and new electric technologies, it is more important now than ever to have your electric bills carefully analyzed by General Utility Consultants' electric utility experts.

How can General Utility Consultants international help lower your electric bills? Our analysts have extensive electric utility experience, which has been an asset to finding cost saving opportunities. Having worked for utility companies, they are much more familiar with the problems that can occur, and have intimate knowledge of metering, billing systems and procedures in use by utilities. They have been highly successful in identifying problems in billing and metering that enable them to spot areas of trouble that would otherwise go unnoticed by both utilities and customers. In addition, GUC international’s analysts are expert negotiators, often succeeding on a billing dispute after our clients have given up trying to resolve the problem on their own.

Our approach is simple.

  • Review clients' historical electric billings
  • Review current and anticipated operations that can affect electric usage and billing
  • Evaluate utility rates, riders and historical problem areas with each electric utility

This can be a very elaborate process for GUC international, but time and again has produced results for our clients

Cable, Phone and Data Cost Analysis

Information continues to explode and we are more connected today than ever before. There are also more options for business and commercial clients. We can guide them the maze of information to reduce costs and even acquire refunds. We can cut phone and data expenses for 83% of the clients that ask us to examine the rates and tariffs.

Gas Cost Analysis

To most natural gas customers, billings may seem straight forward compared to electric billings, however deregulation of natural gas down to the small commercial customer level has resulted in customer confusion and more complicated bills similar to electric bills. Having multiple suppliers can result in additional complications and potential mistakes. Since natural gas usage can represent a sizeable portion of a business' energy costs, it is important that these bills are scrutinized by experts who are familiar with problem areas.

How can GUC International help lower your natural gas utility costs? Our analysts have extensive understanding of natural gas utility billings, which has been a valuable asset to finding cost saving opportunities. Our experienced analysts identify unusual billing and metering errors that would have cost clients thousands of dollars if left unchecked. In addition, General Utility Consultants' international representatives are expert negotiators, often succeeding in getting utilities to change their position on a billing issue after our clients have given up trying to resolve the problem on their own.

Considering using in-house staff to perform a comprehensive natural gas billing analysis? We have found that most of our clients do not have the in-house expertise capable of solving the sometimes complex issues involving natural gas billings. Gas billings often cross over between accounting functions and facility operations. Since knowledgeable in-house personnel often have a more important role in the core business, the utility bill auditing assignment often gets light treatment due to other over-riding more immediate priorities. Today, most businesses accept the role of specialized consultants who can produce results without the need to dedicate key in-house resources who are needed to perform other functions in the organization.

DEREGULATION

GUC International helps companies maximize their electric & gas deregulation savings opportunities while avoiding potential risk.

Times are changing in the utility industry. Electricity & Gas users are now being provided with a choice of Suppliers in an increasing number of States. In these areas, the local utility company becomes the Distribution Company, while electric could be supplied by a number of alternate suppliers.

The ability to choose an alternative supplier has presented consumers with savings opportunities as well as challenges in selecting the best alternative. Choosing another electric/gas supplier is not without risk. Deregulation of utility rates has prompted a redesign of bills, introduction of more complicated billing structures and an unbundling of utility billing components. Even experienced energy users have found it difficult to identify billing problems and getting problems corrected has proven an equal challenge.

Remember – you can lose money by choosing a more expensive alternative

General Utility Consultants international solicits bids from several of the largest and most respected suppliers in the country such as: IDT energy, Hudson energy, Commerce energy, Just energy. Palmco Energy. Trieagle Energy. New Energy, First Energy Services, Exelon Energy, PPL Energy Plus, among others. We submit these bids for both 24, 36, 48 and 60 month prices to our clients along with our recommendation for the best offer. GUC International supports its clients for the length of their Deregulation Agreements assuring that our clients receive the benefits for which they contracted. Since some suppliers do not include all components of their price when submitting bids, knowledge and experience in this process is essential to success. We help to resolve any related issues that may arise for our clients as well.

Why should you consider using the energy experts at GUC International to evaluate and implement deregulation savings opportunities?

Simply put, we’ve seen nearly every possible opportunity and problem presented by both local utilities and alternative energy suppliers. Our experience with utilities and energy suppliers ensures that their shortcomings will not become your problem.

Commercial/Industrial

Commercial Utility Consultants (CUC) has taken our expansive experience of energy to new levels by adding alternative energy resources to our arsenal. Since 1975 we have been successful securing lower utility bills for companies and now want to help eliminate electric bills completely.

For all projects, our solar partners are the primary systems integrator that designs, engineers, supplies, constructs, and completes the specified projects.

Here at CUC, our solar partners include: mechanical labor, master electricians, project and permit management, site supervision, safety, construction management, electrical engineering, structural engineering, PV system design, materials procurement, utility liaison, corporate structuring, tax advisory services, and brokerage services.

Non-Profit Organizations

Our large-scale solar projects rely on a range of rebates, incentives and tax benefits not available to schools, churches, and membership organizations (non-profit organizations) for developing solar projects. However, a third-party ownership approach provides non-profit organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware an opportunity to take advantage of the predictable energy pricing generated by solar projects.

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) allows a third-party firm to fund, construct, own, and maintain a solar array sited at a non-profit organization’s location. The non-profit organization does not maintain or insure the solar project. This financial arrangement allows the host customer to receive stable, and sometimes lower electricity costs, while the solar services provider or another party acquires valuable financial benefits such as tax credits and income generated from the sale of electricity to the host customer. The non-profit organization is in agreement to purchase the solar power produced from the array for a specified period of time at a certain rate, which is typically lower than the current utility rate.

CUC and our partners have developed partnerships with solar financers who are able to provide seamless delivery of PPA projects to its clients.

EPC Services

Our solar partners can secure the committed resources, equipment, and industry partnerships needed to deliver on-time and on-budget energy projects.

Our unparalleled experience in the energy business ensures a seamless integration throughout all project phases. As a result, our clients benefit from an accelerated schedule, uncompromising cost controls, and an increased return on investment.

sREC’S

Our solar partner’s provide sREC advisory and spot market services for client projects, utilizing firm expertise in capital markets, renewable energy, and broker-dealer licenses.

Our partner’s here at CUC, can assist firms in obtaining forward sREC contracts - counterparty agreement to purchase all generated sREC’s at a specific price.

Our Process

  • First - We meet with you and explain how your solar system will work, all the advantages it offers, and exactly how the installation will take place.
  • Second - If you have an interest, through the relationship with our solar partners, we conduct a thorough analysis using a physical survey, energy audit, satellite imaging and proprietary software to do a feasibility study of your project.
  • Third - We will meet again to present our proposal with the options you may want to consider. We will discuss assistance from the federal and state governments and other financial options to purchase your system with the lowest out of pocket cost and highest system capacity.
  • Fourth - If you decide to move forward we'll complete an engineering study, file for all required licenses, etc., and begin work as soon as possible.
